Meet Your Melissa Eye Doctors

Dr. Benjamin Allen O. D.
Kind and compassionate, Dr. Benjamin Allen makes his patients feel comfortable and at ease as soon as he walks in the door. Dr. Allen graduated with honors from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. Afterward, he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry. While in school, Dr. Allen completed a rotation at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland where he worked with active-duty military personnel as well as veterans. At this rotation, he gained experience in primary care optometry, fitting specialty contact lenses, and performing neuro-rehabilitation eye examinations. After this, he received extensive exposure to ocular disease during a rotation at Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Dr. Allen’s interests in optometry include specialty contact lens fittings for corneal disorders, co-managing cataract procedures, neurorehabilitation, and managing dry eye disease. In his free time, Dr. Allen enjoys staying active through lifting weights, running, and boxing. He is also a big fan of Red Dirt Texas country music, the Dallas Cowboys, and of course the Texas A&M Aggies.
Dr. Reid Robertson
Dr. Reid Robertson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Brigham Young University. He attended the University of Houston College of Optometry, where he was awarded the Zelda Schiffman Neuro Ophthalmology Award for excellence in clinical assessment and patient care at the MS Eye Clinic in Houston, TX. Dr. Robertson received Young Optometrist of the Year from the Texas Optometric Association in 2020. This award recognizes one Optometrist in all of Texas that demonstrates remarkable leadership when serving the profession, patients and the community. He has worked with leaders in glaucoma research at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico and has received additional training working with the Cherokee Nation through Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Dr. Robertson also stays busy as Chairman of the Board of Texas State Optical. He is an executive elected by the TSO board of directors and is responsible for presiding over board & committee meetings. Bringing new ideas and problems solving on a day to day basis for not only his patients but eye care as a whole is his passion. At TSO Melissa, we invest heavily in new technology and training. Dr. Robertson has advanced training in fitting scleral lenses for patients with irregular astigmatism, corneal disease, post-surgical complications, contact lens intolerance and many more conditions. His experience and sophisticated process for scleral lenses provide significantly more comfort and improved vision than standard soft or rigid-gas permeable lenses for these patients. Scleral lenses require precise customization, and every patient’s case varies in degrees of severity and corneal measurements.
